CAUSTIC SODA SOLID AND FLAKES

Properties :

White solid, specific gravity: 2.13. It deteriorates by absorbing moisture and carbon dioxide in the air. It is very corrosive after being damped and soluble in water (emits heat) alcohol and glycerin.

Packing:

Plastic sack with waterproof plating (3 layers);
In hermetically sealed iron drums (solid).

Cautions during transportation:

The packing must be kept in good condition and the goods should be stored in a dry place. It should not be shipped in company with acid or substances reacting on alkali.

How to handle with breakage and leakage of packing

Collect the material (Rubber glover must be used in operation). Then, wash the contaminated objects and spot with running water.

How to treat in urgency :

Wash the affected skin with large volume of cold water, or also neutralize with either Boric Acid water or diluted Acetic Acid. If necessary put on some ointment.

Method of extinguishing a fire :

Use water and sand (Avoid bodily contact with water solution of a comparatively high concentration).
